Spanish AI Voices
Spanish is in development and not yet shipped. The interesting problem is not producing Spanish voices; it is that Spanish is not one target, and treating it as one is how localisation goes wrong.

Which Spanish?
European Spanish, Mexican Spanish and Rioplatense Spanish differ in pronunciation, vocabulary and the second-person forms used in ordinary conversation. A single neutral Spanish exists for dubbing and is deliberately placeless, which works for corporate material and reads as artificial in drama.
Our plan is to ship at least European and Latin American variants separately rather than a single blended voice set, because character work is precisely where the blend fails. That is more work and it is the right call.
Why Spanish matters for this product
Spanish-language audio fiction and radio drama have a long and continuous tradition, and the audience for serialised audio storytelling is substantial across Spain and Latin America. It is also one of the largest markets for the vertical short-drama format that several of our users work in.
The practical constraint is the same as everywhere: a cast needs separable voices across age bands, not a handful of pleasant narrators. That is what takes time to assemble.
What to do in the meantime
- Produce in English now
The English library is complete, and Spanish subtitles reach a large audience.
- Keep lines atomic
One utterance per line makes a later Spanish dub a drop-in rather than a rewrite.
- Plan the translation separately
Translation is a writing job. Budget for a human, particularly for idiomatic dialogue.
- Decide your variant early
European or Latin American changes casting and translation. Deciding late is expensive.

Frequently asked questions
Why not ship one neutral Spanish?
Neutral Spanish is a dubbing convention designed to belong nowhere, and it works for commercial narration. In character dialogue it sounds like dubbing, which is precisely the effect an audio drama is trying to avoid.
When is it coming?
After Japanese. We are not publishing a date we cannot commit to.
Can I use English voices for Spanish text?
No. The pronunciation will be wrong throughout. Subtitles are the correct interim answer.
Will there be Latin American variants beyond Mexican?
Rioplatense is the other variant with a distinct enough profile to justify separate voices. Beyond that, it becomes a question of demand.
