Brazilian Portuguese AI Voices
Brazil has one of the largest and most engaged audio-fiction and fan-culture audiences in the world, and it is badly served by tools that treat Portuguese as a single language. It is on our list for exactly that reason.
Not available yet. There are no Brazilian Portuguese voices in this release. This page exists to say what is planned and what it has to get right, not to sell you something that does not exist.
Brazilian and European Portuguese are not interchangeable
They differ in vowel reduction, rhythm and a great deal of everyday vocabulary, and Brazilian listeners find European Portuguese voices distinctly foreign. Tools that ship one Portuguese voice set and label it pt are effectively serving one market and inconveniencing the other.
Brazilian Portuguese is the larger audience for the kind of work our users do, so it is the variant we will build first and label explicitly.
Why Brazil is a priority
Brazilian fan communities are among the most active producers of transformative audio work anywhere, dubbing and re-voicing is a mainstream media tradition rather than a niche, and the short-drama format has grown quickly there. All three are directly served by a multi-voice casting tool.
The gap is that most synthetic voice products treat Brazilian Portuguese as a secondary locale with two or three voices, which is not enough to cast an ensemble.
What to do in the meantime
- Work in English for now
The English library is complete and subtitles carry a long way.
- Keep one line per utterance
It makes a later Portuguese track a drop-in.
- Budget for human translation
Brazilian Portuguese dialogue is highly idiomatic; machine translation reads badly in drama.
- Label the variant
Mark your project pt-BR explicitly so a future dub is not mistakenly produced in European Portuguese.

Age bands and registers you cannot currently cast are the most useful thing you can tell us.

Will European Portuguese be supported too?
Eventually, as a separate variant with its own voices. Merging them would serve neither audience well.
When is it coming?
It is in the first group of languages after English, alongside Japanese, Spanish and Korean. No date until we can commit to one.
Can I use Spanish voices for Portuguese?
No. They are different languages and the result is unintelligible in places and comic in others.
What can I do today?
